Choral Work
I sing with two fine choruses, which surrounds me constantly with great music, great musicians, tradition-soaked venues and enthusiastic audiences.
Locally, I am blessed to rehearse and sing with the Spectrum Singers since the fall of 1998; performing baroque through 20th century music, collaborating with great local orchestras and choruses and soloists, singing in halls like Emmanuel Church in Back Bay, First Congregational Church in Cambridge, all venues where people have gathered to share song and spirit for decades if not centuries.
In 2001, after singing in some local alumni-sponsored choral festivals, I went on my first tour with the Yale Alumni Chorus, to St Petersburg, Moscow, Wales and London. Rehearsing, performing, traveling with people who have made music an important part of their lives inspired me to do the same. I now take YAC tours almost every chance I get, singing in such spectacular venues as the Kremlin, St PaulÕs and Ely Cathedrals in the UK, a huge tent in a thunderstorm at the Eistedfodd in Wales in 2001, Carnegie Hall in New York, the National Cathedral in DC, The Opera House in Buenos Aires, at sunset on the Pao dÕAzucar in RioÉ YACs mission includes spreading the joy and fellowship of choral music around the world, and, to that end, each tour supports the development of local choruses along the tour.
